Here are just a few ideas of the great local activities on offer in the Lot-et-Garonne.

Locally all within 20 min drive. 

Water Lily Museum – Temple sur lot, landscaped gardens/restaurant open 11-5pm. This is a great place for little ones to explore and with on site restaurant, you can eat whilst the kids play.http://www.latour-marliac.com

Outdoor water park with water slides and indoor swimming pools/saunas - Malbentre. Just off the route de Bordeaux in the direction of Pujol.

Sunday morning produce market – Temple sur Lot, v small– July/August only. 

Sunday morning market at the Beau village of Pujols April to October. Small but perfectly formed. Restaurants and cafés here too. Recommended. Also Sunday market at Praysass in small square with cafés.

Night markets: – eating, drinking, live music. – Praysass, Fongrave,(July and August)

Fishing – River or lake fishing locally. Bait sold at Auchan supermarket.

Windmill at Montpezat - Take a picnic and enjoy the view and play area or attend one of the evening music nights.

Swimming lake with pedaloes etc. – Lougratte

Boat hire at Buzet -Just one of the places where you can hire a boat and explore the river baise or canals. You can also hire bikes and cycle along the towpaths. Eat at the Auberge in Buzet.

 

45 - 60 minute drive

Tree climbing adventure park, children’s farm and poney rides. Happy forest. www.happyforest.fr Recommended.

Places worth visiting: Villeneuve Sur Lot, Saturday produce market, boat hire and restaurants and cafés, Penne D’agenais - Hilltop village. Restaurants, port for boat hire. Nerac  - Riverside walks, restaurants, old quarter, boat trips: Bergerac – Restaurants, old quarter etc. Agen – Regional capital, shops, restaurants, pavement cafes. Eymet, Monflanquin, etc Too many others to mention here.

Ludo parc: Near Nerac. Water park with slides, sunloungers, cafe and swimming pools.

2 hours or less

Beach - Arcachon/Biscarosse/ cap feret – Sandy beaches, promenades, restaurants, zoo and Europes biggest sand dune – awesome.

Bordeaux – lively cosmopolitan historic city. Featured on Rick steins recent programme on BBC2. FABULOUS.

Carcassonne - Bastide town - Well preserved historic monument.Toulouse – Fab old quarter in this lovely pink city

Rainy day activities

Indoor soft play 45 mins away – At Bon encontre, S of Agen..  “Royal kids”. Soft play for 0-12. Open 7 days a week. There are also restaurants, museums etc at Agen. www.royalkids.fr

Things to do in Bergerac: 1 hour away

1 Indoor soft play at petite castors, (open wed, sat, sun in term time. 7 days in school holidays). www.les-ptits-castors.com

2 Covered boat trips every day. 6 euros adults, 4 euros kids. Boats leave hourly.  www.gabarres.fr

3 10 pin bowling.  Open from 3pm , serves icecream, also mini golf etc. http://www.bowlingbergerac.fr

Chateau of Bonaguil - 8km from Fumel. Open June/Sept 10am – 12.30pm and 2 – 6pm www.chateau-bonaguil.com
